Induction

Another of our core specialities is creating induction programmes.

When a new member of staff starts work, there’s an enormous amount of information for that person to take in. Often, it’s considered that the best way of imparting much of that information is through a video. Here’s the thing - it’s not.

Research shows that when someone watches a training video they will retain 5 pieces of information. This is why video is not good at showing people how to use that fancy new till (however, it IS extremely good at convincing staff why the fancy new till is necessary).

So, when we produce an induction programme we say “what five pieces of information do you want the viewer to remember”. Often, that will be the company’s core values, or some key customer service tips. The rest of the programme is just to give the new entrant a feel for the style and culture of a company – and this is something that video is perfect for.

When more detailed training is required, that is where mixed-media training, blended learning and e-learning comes in. And not surprisingly, we’re rather experienced in that area too, producing rich programmes for a variety of clients in the aerospace, retail and pharmaceutical industries.
